おもしろい統計をみつけたので、皆様の意見を伺いたく。
情報源はNetCraftが1995年から調査している、稼働しているWebサーバのサーバソフトウェアランキング。（こちら）
ご存じの方も多いと思うが、数年来Webサーバソフトの世界はApacheとMicrosoft IISの2強の時代が続いている。長い歴史を誇り、貧しい農村部を含め全国からくまなく支持を得る自民党（Apache）と比較的裕福な都市部のユーザからの支持が基盤の民主党（IIS）の2大政党の争いだったわけだ。
ところが2007年に入ってその2強を激しく追いかける新興勢力が現れた。グラフのピンク色の線。その名も”Google"が4．35％のシェアを獲得しているのである。
「ありえない」、直感的にそう思った。
Apacheはフリーで配布されており誰でも使うことができる。我が家の自宅サーバもApacheを使っている。Microsoft IISというのはMicrosoftが販売している製品で購入すれば（Microsoft社以外の）誰でも使うことができる。対してGoogleのWebサーバソフト（GWSやGFE）というのはGoogle社だけがつかっているものである。それが4％を超えるというのは果たしてどういうことなのだろう。
Googleの数字が大きく見えてしまう要素を考えてみたが、どれもイマイチなのである。
ここは素直にインターネットの4％はGoogleでできている。と考えるべきなのだろうか？
だとしたらGoogle凄すぎる。

・Netcraftでは、同じホストでユーザ毎に独自のサブドメイン/Virtual Hostを使用している場合、それぞれを1としてカウントされる。（注1）blogger.comだけで相当水増しされることになる。 → でもCnameやVirtual hostはApacheやIISでも使えるからなぁ。

・ApacheやIISを使用している大規模サイトがロードバランサーなどを使用していた場合、サーバが何台あっても１としてカウントされる。 →それがGoogleに優位に働く
